DHEAS stands for dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate. It’s mostly produced in the adrenal glands, which are small glands above the kidneys. A DHEAS test checks the level of this hormone, which the body can turn into estrogen and testosterone. High levels might suggest an adrenal tumor or polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), while low levels could suggest Addison’s disease.
