Conduct disorder is a type of behavior characterized by severe antisocial and aggressive behavior that frequently co-occurs with ADHD. It most often manifests in children and adolescents and is twice as prevalent in males as in females. Typical behaviors displayed include destroying property, picking fights, and mistreating animals. The 5th Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V) defines conduct disorder as “A repetitive and persistent pattern of behavior in which basic rights of others or major age-appropriate societal norms or rules are violated.”
Conduct Disorder is associated with functional abnormalities and neurocognitive impairments in the areas of the brain that are responsible for emotion processing and regulation and reinforcement-based decision-making.
